BioTE® Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Our hormones are considered to be the body’s chemical messengers, carrying messages and signals between cells and organs. When in proper balance, they actually play a bigger role in how our body functions than we might expect—including our mood, heart rate, appetite, metabolism, sleep quality, stress management, energy, growth, and sexual development, and reproduction. This also goes without saying that when one’s hormone levels are too high or too low, serious health issues can occur.
Helping people with their hormone issues is one thing that North Florida Medical Center is passionate about. We are dedicated and driven to help men and women reduce, relieve, and even resolve symptoms brought about by hormonal imbalance. And we do this using bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).
Hormone replacement therapy has been around for thousands of years (the first use goes way back to Ancient China) and has recently become even more popular because of the innovations in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy involves introducing hormones into the patient’s body in order to replace what is missing so that it can feel and perform the way it was originally designed. These hormones from natural sources, which means that they have a chemical structure similar to the hormones naturally produced in the human body and that they have fewer side effects than synthetic ones.

Certified BioTE® Hormone Pellet Therapy Provider
Here at North Florida Medical Center, we only use and endorse the most trusted products and processes for our patients. And when it comes to BHRT, we are proud to say that we are a trusted, trained, and certified BioTE® Medical provider here in Jacksonville.
BioTE® pellets are meticulously designed to keep hormone levels consistent throughout the day and to avoid the roller coaster-like effects that other hormone types usually bring. Because they are plant-based, they mimic the hormones naturally present within the body, which means fewer side effects and more success in achieving hormonal balance. The pellets are administered subcutaneously in our office (which only takes a few minutes), dissolved, absorbed by the body, and begins to work in seven to ten days.
Each BioTE® hormone treatment program is tailored to meet the very specific needs of each patient. Every single pellet is custom-compounded based on their goal, physiology, symptoms, and response. Having been closely trained and duly certified by BioTE® Medical, we at North Florida Medical Center look forward to providing you with the treatment that you need for naturally balanced and naturally optimized hormone levels.
Is BioTE® Hormone Therapy For Me?
It’s very normal—and even encouraged—to be careful and cautious about possible treatments and therapies. North Florida Medical Center understands this and we want all of our patients to be confident and sure of their decision to take their next step with us.
Our BioTE® pellet therapy caters to both men and women who are experiencing hormonal imbalance or seeking hormonal optimization.
The following are some symptoms of hormonal imbalance in men:
- Chronic fatigue
- Decreased bone mass
- Increased body fat (especially in the waist area)
- Loss of muscle mass
- Mood changes
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
- Low sex drive
- Lower mental capacity
- Brain Fog
And the following are some symptoms of hormonal imbalance in women:
- Night Sweats
- Hot flashes
- Decreased sex drive
- Weight gain
- Cold hands and feet
If these symptoms sound familiar to you, you may need to check if your hormones are properly balanced or if you need BHRT. If it’s the latter, then BioTE® pellet therapy would be an excellent option for you. Here at North Florida Medical Center, we can offer you BioTE® estrogen and testosterone pellet therapies that treat a wide range of emotional, reproductive, and nonreproductive symptoms.
The Treatment Process
While pellet insertion in our office will only take a few minutes, there are a couple of other things that will need to be taken care of in order to achieve success in our BioTE® bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. This is why contacting a BioTE® Medical provider within your vicinity would be most ideal.
- If possible, stop all nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, naproxen sodium, etc. one week before the procedure.
- Get your current hormone levels tested in our office. This may include saliva samples, blood tests, blood serum tests or urine tests depending on the hormones being tested.
- Get a comprehensive blood panel in our office.
- Based on the results of your tests, we will let you know whether or not you are a candidate for BioTE® pellet therapy.
- If you are a candidate for the therapy, we will schedule an appointment for our pellet insertion procedure.
- During your scheduled appointment, the BioTE® pellet is administered in your body through a small incision most commonly on your upper buttocks. Afterward, the insertion site is covered with a bandage.
- For the next few days following the procedure, you will be advised to limit, avoid, and even eliminate certain physical activities.
This whole hormone therapy thing may sound new and unfamiliar to you, but North Florida Medical Center is ready to help you ease into your journey to wellness and balance. We look forward to answering your questions and addressing your needs with BioTE® pellet therapy!
